Heather May poses on her mosaiced plinth in Goomeri Qld

Amayz Mosaics was delighted to be contacted by the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival Committee and asked to mosaic the plain concrete plinth that supports a 500 kg stone pumpkin carved from a single piece of Indonesian greenstone. The pumpkin statue stands in Market Square and was installed as an icon to the town’s Pumpkin Festival commemorated each year in May.

Onto sheets of cement board Heather sketched out a design that would flow around the four sides and across the top of the plinth, then set to mosaicing it all with hand-cut coloured glass. The entire job took some 10 weeks.
